A Right Royal Breakfast

Knives and forks in union jack napkins

We have to say a BIG thank you to everybody who supported the Big Breakfast on Friday morning. Judging by people’s comments it was a big success and a great time was had by all. Good food, and a chance to meet and greet over a full English, tea, toast and marmalade. What’s not to like. We served 106 full English Breakfasts which was pretty good for a first time.

Of course it wouldn’t have happened without the amazing volunteers who were there from 7:00 am to prep the room and cook the amazing breakfasts. Fabulous team work from everybody and a huge thank you.

We must also thank our sponsors without whom this event would not have been possible so many thanks to Morrisons and Asda  in Market Drayton and Shepley’s Family Butchers in Market Drayton who provided the excellent bacon, sausage and Black Pudding which everybody enjoyed. A big thank you as well to Andy and Ann Davis who provided the lovely free range eggs to complete a perfect breakfast.

Its a Knockout anyone?

Sadly its so long since it was on TV that many of you will be too young to remember it but it was definitely something that is worth reviving and guess what?   We are!

Yes, at the Party on the Green, you will have a unique opportunity to either be a contestant, or to watch others competing.  We guarantee that whether you are a participant or a spectator you will find it very funny so be sure to pop along and join the fun either literally or from the sidelines.  It usually involves water, is messy, and often slightly humiliating, but its all in a good cause and we cheer on the really good sports who take part.

Look forward to seeing you there on Saturday!

What is your favourite cake or pud?

It would be lovely if you would consider sharing it with us all at the Jubilee Party on the Green on Saturday 4th June on the Bring and Share Table.  Bring it along, with a copy of the recipe and we will let people sample the cakes and puds and take a copy of your recipe if they would like to try and make your cake or pud again at home.

Jubilee celebrations are all about cake aren’t they, so with your help the Bring and Share table, along with a nice cup of tea, could be the star of the show.  DON’T EAT BEFORE YOU COME THOUGH you are going to need plenty of space for the tastings!

Its all Happening in Adderley for Jubilee Weekend!

Goodness Me!   So much to remember but so much fun to be had!

Don’t forget the Jubilee Quiz on Thursday night 2nd June in the village hall – bar will be open, but we would take it carefully,  if you want a chance of winning – you will need your wits about you!

Then out of bed and up with the lark to sample a Full English Breakfast between 9.00 and 12.00 on Friday 3rd June.  Can’t wait to see you there, families, friends and neighbours,  for your most important meal of the day cooked by someone else!

As if that wasn’t enough at 4.00pm on Saturday 4th June, the Party on the Green.  There will be a barbecue and Crazy Bowls for all  at the Bowling Club, a bouncy castle, a Dog Show, some music and fun for the children, an Its a Knockout competition, an un-rideable bike to challenge those brave enough and ………………. in true Jubilee style we are asking you to bring along your favourite cake or pud to share.  We thought it would be wonderful to ask everyone to bring theirs along with the recipe so that if people enjoy yours, they can copy  the recipe and try and recreate it at home.  So get the oven going, and treat us all to your masterpiece.  We can’t wait!

Keep an eye open, we will post more details over the next day or so,

A Little Help Please

A message from Phil Gadd. If you have time to spare tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon then help with putting up Jubilee bunting would be much appreciated.

“Just to let you know…We will be putting up the bunting for the Jubilee on Saturday from 2pm. If anyone would like to help, just pop down to the Village Green. Children welcome, tea & coffee provided….Cheers Phil…”

Volunteers Needed

We’re looking for volunteers to help make Adderley Playgroup the very best it can be.

If you are able to help with set up, running the group and clean up on a Wednesday morning we’d love to hear from you!

We’re looking for people who can help out regularly: every week, every two weeks or even just once a month.

You don’t need to have a child at the group to volunteer. You just need to be enthusiastic and be willing to get stuck in

If you are interested just visit the Adderley Playgroup Facebook page and leave a comment.

We’re Getting Adderley Heritage Trail Answers!

Adderley shines yet again! Lovely people have been leaving treasure hunt forms through our letter box and even knocking on the door to tell us about stuff. Amazing or what? If you haven’t done yours yet then please have a go and then come along on Sunday to see if you’re right.

Most important make sure you give us your answers to the first two questions. we need that information for the funding bid – but more about that on Sunday.

Don’t forget, Sunday, 10:00 at the Village Hall. There will be tea/coffee and cake then at 11:00 the answers to the questions. There will also be a chance to have a look at samples of the collection provided by Geoff Butter which form the basis of the heritage trail. This is an exciting moment for Adderley be a part of it.

Want to help with donations to people of Ukraine?

Image of Lorry

Many people will already have organised their support and donations to help people in, and fleeing from, Ukraine.  However, if you haven’t done so yet, or are unsure where to send your donations, Dawn Evans, 11 Rectory Lane is acting as a collection point for a lorry which is leaving mid week next week to take provisions to the Ukraine border to be given to people.

Many things are needed but nappies, sanitary wear, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo deodorant etc are much needed as are warm clothes.

If you would like to help please get your donations to Dawn by 1.30pm on Tuesday 8th March so that it can be collected later that day for loading. Â
