Adderley Heritage Project Update

As you know we have had an incredibly successful project to preserve the very valuable collection created by Geoff Butter over the last 50 years.   We now have our wonderful Adderley Heritage Website with all these items digitised for you to enjoy, plus stories and memories from people who live in or lived in Adderley.  The Heritage Trail is well walked and comments suggest, much enjoyed, by many people and will be there to remind us of our heritage for many years to come.

As we reach the end of our funding, the heritage project can continue and it would be lovely to know if people would be interested in joining in via a Local History Group to continue to add to our history.   If you would like to explore how you might be able to get involved in some way please contact Val or Paul Nash for a chat.

Plants and Coffee anyone?

Plants to share at the coffee morning Why not bring any surplus you have along to help someone else out

Yes, almost the last Saturday in the month.   Come along to the village hall for a nice cuppa and slice of cake and, this month, a chance to grab a plant or two, or donate a plant or two to share around the village.

We are hoping that people will find this a useful way to distribute surplus plants that they may have and help each other out to fill those spaces that we all find about now in the flower bed or veg patch.

Coffee morning starts at 10.30 but if you want to pop any plants down we will be there from 10.00 am

Many thanks and see you on Saturday.

Village Coffee Morning & Plant Sale coming up…

Yes, its almost here, the end of the month means Coffee Morning and this month, on Saturday 31st May we are adding a bit of an extra.  A chance to sell or donate any surplus plants you have, either bedding, veg or split plants, share the love and generally give a bit back.

If you have any plants you would like to donate, please bring them along at 10.00 am next Saturday 31st May to the village hall, and if you have a space in your garden crying out for something to fill it bring your purse and we could solve all your problems without you having to travel far!

Look forward to seeing you at the coffee morning with or without plants.  Coffee served 10.30-12 in the village hall.   The cakes are always good and the welcome always a warm one.  What’s not to like?

Can you help to keep our village beautiful?

As you know, if you live in, or drive through Adderley, we have a bit of a reputation for our beautiful flower tubs which were first created some years ago by Barry Hale.  They really do make our village shine and shout out that we care about the place in which we live.

However, as with all good things, planting and watering takes time and people, and we always welcome new volunteers offering to be involved in the Spring and Autumn planting up, and joining the rota to water some pots near to where they live.  The more volunteers we have the less often we each have to do and it literally takes a few minutes to half an hour to do.

If you could offer to join one of the rotas to help with watering we would love to hear from you.  It would be great if we could get enough people to enable us to say that you might do your bit once or twice a month.  Have a think, and if you would like to find out more, or offer to be involved please get in touch with one of the flower team leads.  Barbara Slack, Lesley Norman, Marius Coulon, Ben Wrathall or Val Nash.

VE Day – Cream Tea

It’s a beautiful day! why not spend part of this afternoon enjoying tea/coffee and a scone with friends at the village hall. There will be a glass of Prosecco for those who like to participate as well as memories from the Geoff Butter collection.

This is the last call so don’t miss this opportunity to reminisce and catch up with friends and neighbours. From 3:00 today at the village hall.

Oh and there is a representative there from an armed forces charity. The tea and scones are free but I’m sure they would appreciate your support.
