Can you help to keep our village beautiful?

As you know, if you live in, or drive through Adderley, we have a bit of a reputation for our beautiful flower tubs which were first created some years ago by Barry Hale.  They really do make our village shine and shout out that we care about the place in which we live.

However, as with all good things, planting and watering takes time and people, and we always welcome new volunteers offering to be involved in the Spring and Autumn planting up, and joining the rota to water some pots near to where they live.  The more volunteers we have the less often we each have to do and it literally takes a few minutes to half an hour to do.

If you could offer to join one of the rotas to help with watering we would love to hear from you.  It would be great if we could get enough people to enable us to say that you might do your bit once or twice a month.  Have a think, and if you would like to find out more, or offer to be involved please get in touch with one of the flower team leads.  Barbara Slack, Lesley Norman, Marius Coulon, Ben Wrathall or Val Nash.

VE Day – Cream Tea

It’s a beautiful day! why not spend part of this afternoon enjoying tea/coffee and a scone with friends at the village hall. There will be a glass of Prosecco for those who like to participate as well as memories from the Geoff Butter collection.

This is the last call so don’t miss this opportunity to reminisce and catch up with friends and neighbours. From 3:00 today at the village hall.

Oh and there is a representative there from an armed forces charity. The tea and scones are free but I’m sure they would appreciate your support.

Coffee and Easter Chicks Anyone?

Yes there will be cake too of course at the Coffee Morning, but Easter Chicks I hear you say?

We have been asked by one of our lovely cake makers, who is also a volunteer with  Francis House Hospice, if we could help with their wonderful fundraising project by selling knitted Easter chicks at the Coffee Morning.  A quick ask around the Nice Place to Be subscribers brought a unanimous yes so here we are!  More information here

So just pop an extra bit of cash in your pocket when you come down to the coffee morning next Saturday 29th March 10.30-12 in the village hall, and you could be the proud owner of a chick or two, complete with a creme egg.  Great for your Easter table decoration, or as a lovely gift for the children or grandchildren on Easter Sunday.

Please bring anyone along who you think might enjoy at chat and a nice piece of cake.  Its always a lovely friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome.

PS  We would love your views on whether to make our April or May Coffee Morning a Plant Sale or Plant Swap event.  What do you think?  Come and tell us next Saturday.

During the work, access to the works area will be restricted to Pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and equestrians

Oh dear, Oh Dear. Is it you?

Yes, YOU.  Are you the irresponsible dog owners who walk down  Rectory Lane and let your dog poo outside residents homes?

Such a shame that you feel its ok to live in, or visit our lovely village to walk your dogs, but don’t see the need to pick up after them.

It is an offence, and if you continue to do this, you will be reported to the dog warden.

So be a sport, and buy some poo bags and start using them and the dog poo bins around the village.   The bags don’t cost much but they contribute a huge amount to the goodwill dog owners can expect if they respect others in their community.
