Can you believe its over halfway through January already? I know! Well time may be flying by but that means its closer to the last Saturday in the month and Coffee morning in the village hall.
Yes, Saturday 27th January, 10.30am – 12 noon Tea and Coffee, a very warm welcome, a chance to meet and chat and there is usually a very nice biscuit or a piece of cake too.
Have you got new neighbours who don’t know many folk yet? Why not knock on their door and invite them them along too so that they can meet people and socialise.
Didn’t they do well? Santa and Mrs Claus were on top form, the tree lights looked amazing, the grotto was magical, the school team and the Adderley Tots teams entertained the children, the fabulous stall holders provided Christmas shopping ideas for the grown-ups, the mulled wine and mince pies went down a storm, and Mortzarella pizza’s did a roaring trade with their excellent pizzas. The hall was packed with local people and it was buzzing all night. Lots of fabulous compliments for putting on such a community event.
So here’s a cheer for the Nice Place To Be Team who organised and funded the event. In particular Iain Wilson and Val Nash who co-ordinated everything, but so many people gave their time and talents. You know who you are and your time and expertise are so appreciated. You all contributed to making it a wonderful memorable event for our community, especially the children, and you all deserve to give yourselves a pat on the back. Thank you.
here are just a few pics of the event, but we will put together a gallery of pictures for you to enjoy over the next few days. If you have any you could share please send them to webmaster@adderleyparish.co.uk
Yes, its true. We’ve heard from Santa and Mrs Claus, they are almost as excited as we are about the Switch On on Friday night and Mrs Claus says she cannot wait to see all you children when you come to see Santa in the Grotto.
Friday night in Adderley is the Great Big Switch on! Have you got your lights up yet? Well the Christmas Tree on the Green will be shining for all to see on Friday night, but it needs you there to help with the countdown.
Then pop into the hall to get in the festive mood browsing some of the lovely local stalls who will be showing their wares for you to buy. Its too good to miss, so see you there!
Only TWO!!!! Yes, we know! So excited here. Hope you are ready to come down and see Santa switching on the lights with Mrs Claus on Friday night!
Don’t forget to remind Mum and Dad and you don’t even need to have any tea before you come. Mortzarella will be here with their fabulous wood fired pizzas. How good is that? Oh, and while you are eating pizza send the grownups inside to have some mulled wine and buy last minute Christmas presents from the artisan stalls. Order your pizza in advance from Mortzarella on 07485 552498 or via FB @Mortzarella ,
Once you’ve had your pizza you had better pop in and see Santa and Mrs Claus in the grotto, they will be waiting to hear what you want for Christmas so make sure you go and have a word.
We often talk about what a special place Adderley is, then every now and again you get one of those days when everything is just right.
Repairs to the Locks are well underway. If you haven’t seen them it’s a chance to see what’s hidden underneath the water when the canal is full. Also a chance to see the temporary Adderley Falls.
Saturdays Coffee Morning was lovely! Lots of people turned out to meet and chat and we were joined by Faye and her friend who used to live in the village and popped in to say hello.
As part of the morning we asked people if they felt they wanted the coffee mornings to continue, and to be honest it was a fairly resounding Yes Please! We asked people for ideas to vary it a little and had lots of suggestions from themed events for Christmas, Easter, Summer etc, to ringing the changes with a Bacon Bap and a coffee (this seemed incredibly popular with the men!) to ideas for doing some tidying up around the village such as a Kerb Clean and Cake, Soup lunches and a community walk with cake afterwards.
If you weren’t there but have thoughts and ideas of what we could do please get in touch and if you would like to help with organising, or be added to the Whats App Nice Place to Be group where we share info about whats coming up and who can help, speak to Val Nash, Lesley Norman or anyone who helps with the Nice Place to Be events and we will make sure you are included.
