Coffee Morning Saturday 25th March
If you were at the last coffee morning you told us that you really enjoyed it. If you missed it, then we missed you and we’re looking forwards to seeing you on the 25th. If you’ve never been before then we’re looking forwards to meeting you and making you welcome.
“If at first you don’t succeed have some cake” the Mole in “The Boy, the mole, the fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy”.
The film of the book, shown at Christmas, won an Oscar for Best Animated Short at this year’s awards. We think we know why; it’s because the character of the mole shares our love of cake. It’s one of your five a day and it supports weight loss as part of a calorie controlled diet. You too can enjoy cake along with tea / coffee and outstanding conversation or just plain gossip.
Saturday 25th March 10:30 until 12:00. £2.00 gets you tea / coffee and cake. All welcome.
Village Hall Working Group

You will recall that we recently made a call for people to join a working group to support the revitalisation of the structure of the Village Hall. We had a fantastic response to the original request but would still like to hear from a few more people to make up this group.
Our village hall has an amazing history but the fabric of our Village Hall is deteriorating and we want to ensure we have a plan and proposal for revitalising it.
This is a unique opportunity to create a vision for the future not just of a valued community resource but also an incredible piece of Adderley’s history. With that in mind we are asking everyone in the village if they have, or know someone who has, the following skills or expertise that could join a small working group. Whether you are retired or working, but feel able to volunteer a few hours of your time every month, we would like to hear from you if you:
- have some project management experience to guide the group in the development of a project plan
- have a background in quantity surveying or structural engineering
- are an architect or experience in draughting architectural design
- have some experience in community consultation and/or engagement
- have experience in grant application and funding
If you would like to talk about this before committing, please contact Ken Greetham email: Enquiries Enquiriesadderleyvh@outlook.com for an informal chat about our vision and intentions.
Dominoes! Mondays and Alternate Wednesdays
Did you know?
No one really knows why Dominoes is called Dominoes! Possibly it’s derived from the Latin word ‘dominos’ meaning lord or master.
The original game of dominoes came from China, possibly bought to Europe by Italian missionaries.
Another fun fact, you can join in games of dominoes at the Village Hall on Mondays at 7:30 or alternate Wednesdays from 2:00 until 4:00 next get together 15th and 29th March. Why not take a break and come and join our little group of players in the Village Hall or bring your own team and enjoy the conversation.
