A small, determined and perfectly formed group of volunteers, young and old, gathered at the village hall last night to do our first carols round the village since lockdown. It was a perfect night for carolling and we set off on our two hour sojourn round Adderley giving of our best at each place we stopped and finishing with a rousing “We wish you a merry Christmas”.
By the time we got back to the Village Hall where Ross and Ian had turned out to serve us sustenance and Geryl had produced mince pies and small stollen we were weary and a little hoarse but gratified by how we had been made welcome.
When we counted up we had received over £200 with a lot of change. As one of the younger people put it there was “Two hundred and tons!” A magnificent effort Adderley. Thank you everybody. In addition the younger people benefited from generously given chocolate which went down very nicely, thank you.

What happens next? Well there are still one or two donations to come in so we will wait until we have them all then we will publish the final total and put the money into the Community Account. We have already been in touch with Hope House to ask for the details of how to pay across the money. When we’ve done that we will let you know.
A final “Thank You” to the volunteers and the little people who came and made it a wonderful evening. Hopefully, next year we will be a larger crowd and we can make more noise. Don’t forget the Christmas Carol service at St Peter’s Church at 7:00 pm on Christmas Eve. Until then let everybody have the best Christmas possible. Merry Christmas.
