Join me and slow down with Yin Yoga.

Yoga
KulaYoga

This class is a perfect opportunity for you to pause and come back into balance.  Yin yoga allows your body to settle as it is a slower and more meditative practice that targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments and joints

Due to the slower pace, it gives you an opportunity to turn inward and tune into both your mind and notice the physical sensations of your body.

In yin yoga we hold poses for a longer period of time than you would in other traditional types of yoga so helps you to stretch and lengthen those rarely-used tissues.

If you are new to yoga or if you haven’t practised yoga for a while, then this class is for you as we make use of the props (which are provided) for added support or lengthening.

“Its such a lovely atmosphere!”

Coffee morning

That was the verdict of a number of people who popped into the Coffee Morning yesterday in the village hall.   People said they felt very welcome and loved chatting and meeting new people or catching up with old friends.  One lady said she had met so many people the last time she came that she thought she would try and keep count this time of how many she talked to and completely forgot because she was so busy chatting to so many people.

That’s what we like to hear and of course some lovely cakes cooked by different people each time.  I think we have to declare  the Coconut Macaroons naughtiest this week but the Parkin, Lemon Muffins Fruit Loaf and Oatcake biscuits were equally delicious (not that we tried them all of course!)   Thank you to the lovely volunteers who baked and took a turn in the kitchen this month and we look forward to seeing everyone again the last Saturday in September 10.30am    Do you have a neighbour who may not like to come alone?  Why not offer to bring them along.  Its hard to walk in if you are on your own.

If you would like to offer a cake or an hour of your time to help any time we would absolutely love to welcome you to the team.  The more the merrier.

A Little Help Please

Fruit Tree Header

The Queens Jubilee celebrations will continue with the Queens Green Canopy this September. While we would love to plant a new broadleaf forest unfortunately we just don’t have the capacity. However, the Parish Council will be planting a new tree near the village green with a commemorative plaque in recognition of the jubilee and as a token they will be making available some small fruit trees for members of the community to mark the event by having a tree in their garden. Fruit trees were chosen because not everybody has space for a broad leaf tree.

The fruit trees will be given free to members of Adderley Parish only and they can be planted in the garden or in a suitable container with the right care and preparation. We need your help in deciding how many fruit trees to get. All you have to do is tick the appropriate button below and that’s it. This is not a commitment on your part (that comes later) simply an indication that you might like a tree when they come available.

So, please take a moment to click the button and we will let you know the results in due course.

Update on Adderley Heritage Bid – its been submitted!

As you know Geoff Butter, who grew up and lived in Adderley for much of his life has offered the village the most amazing collection of archive materials about the village and its history. He has been collecting this over the last 50 years.    It truly is a vast collection and everyone who has seen it has been rather overwhelmed by the size, richness  and the the diversity of the materials.  Its our history and it would be awful if it was lost to us.

A group of people from the community decided that it would be worth putting in a Heritage Lottery Bid to preserve this collection for future generations.   This has required an immense amount of work over the last year.  We have submitted the bid which includes a Heritage Trail around the points of interest in the community,  (not intruding on private property), digitisation of all the photographs and articles and other documents about our village going back hundreds of years in some cases,  a website which will host copies of all documents to be easily accessible to all and a variety of other proposals which will include as many people as possible in celebrating our history.

We have pulled together support from all sorts of people and places and if successful in our bid we will be working with them all.   They include Shropshire Archive who will catalogue all the materials and host the most precious and vulnerable artefacts; our school who are very excited to be involved in all sorts of ways, Keele University who hope to support the project with a graduate being involved; The Oral History Society and Storytellers.

Sounds amazing doesn’t it?  However, the bidding process for Heritage Lottery Funding is very very competitive and we have no idea whether our bid will be successful.  The bid is in, the lottery have confirmed receipt and asked us a number of questions for clarification and we now wait for them to consider and tell us.  Yesterday they emailed us to say that this will take up to a month so we have our fingers crossed and hope that it will be a positive response.

If anyone is interested in finding out more please get in touch with webmaster@adderleyparish.co.uk and the information will be passed on.
