Fashion and Fizz or Coffee, Cake and Couture?

Fashion Header

Thank you to the very lovely Tracy Ennis in Station Road, who has organised a “Pop up” in the village hall which will be a great opportunity to purchase some really different clothes and fashion accessories that you won’t find on the high street.  Freshen up your wardrobe, buy a Christmas present or two, or just come along to get some great ideas of what’s on trend right now.  Drinks and nibbles will be served on the evening and it’s a great opportunity to bring along a friend and have a lovely evening out.  Even better, if you can’t manage the evening the pop up will be open again on Saturday morning so you can come along then to view or to pick up that piece you should have ordered the night before.  How good is that?

Book your place by texting or calling Tracy – details on the flier and we will see you there!

When? Friday 8th October 7-9:30pm or Saturday 9th October 9:30am-11:30am

Musical Evening At St Peters

A musical evening, including cheese and wine, was held in the closed off east end of St Peter’s Church on the 1st of September. To a full house the “MicWire” Choir and soloists entertained us with an excellent programme. The choir was exuberant, energetic and very entertaining with an enjoyable repertoire of Pop, Soul and Motown Classics with a finale of Salve Regina (Holy Holy Queen). They were ably and enthusiastically conducted by Kate Cubley and Grace Courtney and our thanks go to them and all the choir members for coming to us in Adderley, some from as far away as Liverpool.

At the interval wine and cheese were handed round and not just your “usual” piece of cheese on a biscuit but an array of wonderful cheese nibbles on different breads, biscuits & pastries and many varieties of cheese. A big thank you to Priscilla Parsons, Jackey Tydeman and Sheila Greetham for all the bits, wine and organisation. The church was decorated with lovely flowers kindly grown and given and arranged by church members. A very well received vote of thanks was given by Chris Lewis and a good night was had by all.

New Playgroup In Adderley Village Hall

Village Hal

Adderley welcomes a new playgroup which will open from Wednesday 8th September, 9.45am -11.30am. We are welcoming donations (to supply healthy snacks) and volunteers.

Adderley village hall is welcoming new baby & toddler group for Wednesday mornings. All children under the age of 5 are welcome with their parents, grandparents, carers & childminders.

The group will run term time on Wednesdays between 9:45am and 11:15am.

It shall be a free group to attend however donations are welcome to enable the group to provide the children with healthy snacks, arts & crafts and messy play. So far Morrison’s have kindly gifted us food towards the group and Adderley hall are providing the tea and coffees. Special thanks should be given to Phil Glad who is part of the village hall committee allowing the group run. We hope it’s a great community asset in bringing together parents & preschoolers especially after an isolating time for new parents during the pandemic.

The group has lots of great toys & books all of which have been donated by the general public to help set it up. It shall have a baby area for none walkers and the hall is a large space for preschoolers to run around and enjoy themselves.

We are currently looking for additional volunteers to help with the group. Even on a time share basis would be of great help. This will involve setting up the toys ready for the group to start, helping with drink & good and cleaning up afterwards.

For more information please search for Adderley playgroup via Facebook.

Discovery Trail Postponed

As you all know we had hoped to have a Discovery Trail around the village over the August Bank Holiday, with a range of activities, interesting places to visit and people who were offering to showcase a hobby or an interest that others may enjoy.

Although the end of lockdown is a cause to celebrate it has also meant, quite rightly, that people want to visit friends or relatives or get away for a few days.  It has also meant that some people are feeling a little more nervous about mixing socially,  and so,  after talking to those who had offered their time, we have decided to postpone the Discovery Trail until next year.

We have had some amazing offers of venues, time and skills and it really is the case that we have a lot to discover about our neighbourhood.  There is a lot to be proud of and a lot to nurture and preserve in our lovely village and we can’t wait to share it with you all next year.  We will keep you posted!

Adderley – a nice place to be.
