ADDERLERY PARISH COUNCIL

Impact on services during the Coronavirus outbreak

No. 1 – 18 March 2020

The Parish Council has prepared the following response its residents regarding the provision of its services during the current Coronavirus outbreak. As the situation is changing daily please refer to our website at https://adderleyparish.co.uk/ for further information or email the Clerk at clerk@adderleyparish.co.uk or call 01630 654504.

Recreational Grounds and Play Areas – We will continue to maintain these areas as normal and allow access to the public wherever possible. However, given the rapidly changing picture we may have to limit the services we can provide during this period.

We advise anyone using the play areas to wash your hands both directly before and after use.

Street Lights – We will continue to monitor and report any street lighting faults. If you would like to report a faulty light please contact the Clerk as detailed above.

Important Message From Reverend Clarkson

Entrance to St Peter's Church

Dear friends,

Following guidance from the Church of England, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all church meetings and services in the AMICA Benefice until further notice.  This includes the Calverhall PCC meeting tonight, and our Mothering Sunday services this weekend, and we are very sorry for any sadness or disappointment this causes.

All of our Churchyards, and some of our Churches, will still be open daily for prayer and reflection, and we would encourage you to make use of them.  We are also encouraging people to join us in praying wherever you are at 9am and 9pm each day.

I know that these are anxious times, but your church has been here to support you through plagues and famines, World Wars and Civil Wars and we will be here for you through this!  Please be assured of our prayers for all our communities, and if there is anything (practical or spiritual) that we can help with please don’t hesitate to contact Rev’d Rich on (01630) 639576 or revrichclarkson@gmail.com

At Pat Davies’ funeral yesterday I read these words which I think are very appropriate for us at the moment:
I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year:
“Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown”
And he replied: “Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God,
That shall be better to you than light, and safer than a known way”

Yours in Christ,
Rich

Have You Spotted The Little Figure On The Right?

When you are using Adderley Parish website you may have noticed that there is a small icon of a little figure on the right hand side. If you scroll the page up and down the little figure always stays in view.

We’ve been working to make our website more accessible. If you click on the little figure it will open up some accessibility tools. You can increase the font size, change the contrast or even get a screen reader to read out the contents for you.

It’s not perfect yet but it’s a start and we are still busy behind the scenes trying to make it better. So if you’re struggling to access the website why not give it a go and see if it helps. Let us know what you think.

In the meantime we will continue to try and improve access to Adderley Parish.

The Three Parishes Neighbourhood Plan that’s what! Back last summer when we had our last Village Meeting we went through the initial results of the open forums and we said then that there would be a relatively quiet period whilst we undertook some data gathering. Well that’s just what we did, and there was a lot of data.

We are about to finalise the big questionnaire which will go to every household in the three parishes. It’s important that we get as many people as possible to fill that in. We will continue to update you as the day for getting the questionaire out to you gets closer but right now we’re looking at the end of March, early April.

Before then we will be giving you regular updates via the village Facebook Page and the Parish website. We will also be having a village meeting to update you on the Neighbourhood Plan and developments on the A529 and all of the other things that have engaged the Parish Council over the last twelve months. In the meantime you can keep up to date by going to the Three Parishes Neighbourhood Plan website and while you’re there you can see some of the maps and data that we have been sent by going to the “Documents” tab; it’s all interesting stuff. For those of you who like such things all of the notes of the meetings we have held over the year are published on the “Minutes” tab.

The Three Parishes Neighbourhood Plan website is updated regularly by Geoff in Moreton Say and new updates are flagged on the Adderley Parish website on the right hand side where it says “3 Parishes Neighbourhood Plan” just under the link to our Facebook Page.

Well Done Adderley!

The Christmas Carols Round The Village raised an astonishing £370 this year for Hope House! Wowzers! This was one of our best year’s so far so an enormous thank you to the hardy few who tramped the streets in the cold and the dark and brought a little Christmas cheer – not always tunefully – to the lovely residents of Adderley.

An extra thank you this year to the people of Adderley Barns who made us so welcome and treated us to mince pies and mulled wine as well as giving so generously. A further thank you to John Fishburn and his family who once again gave us Christmas cheer in a glass of port. We also had chocolates in Green Bank and homemade wines and cake from Hugh in Corbett Drive.

A final thank you to Adderley Village Hall and the bar volunteers who gave us mince pies and welcome respite at the end of the evening.
