Can You Spare An Hour For A Great Cause?
The Village Hall is putting on a brilliant event in aid of Hope House Children’s Hospice. Can you find an hour (just an hour) to support this event to help raise funds for this worthy cause. Every year Adderley support Hope House through a number of events (Carols round the village is one example). The Village Hall is looking for people to give an hour of their time to help with the June event in aid of this charity.

Oh! We Do Love To Dress Up.
6th June this year has huge significance. It’s the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings a tipping point in the Second World War. Here in Adderley we will be remembering and we will be celebrating this historic occasion.
Saturday 8th June, come as you are OR come as you would in the 1940’s (time for some of us to delve into the bottom of the trunk) and join us in Adderley Village Hall for supper, live music and celebration. Details below.

Adderley Heritage Launch a HUGE success
What a day we had. Between 120 and 140 people came through the door during the day, with a packed hall for the opening speeches from Paul Nash on behalf of the Parish Council, Val Nash, Chair of the Heritage Project, a message from Christopher Corbet who is the patron of St Peter’s Church and member of the Corbet family, now living in Moreton Corbet,  and the real star of the show Geoff Butter, whose collection is what the Heritage project is all about. Funded by Heritage Lottery, the safety and accessibility of the Adderley Heritage is secure for generations to come.
People came from far and wide, who grew up, went to school or lived in Adderley, as well as many of the current residents who wanted to find out more about their home village. It was a day filled with memories, exclamations and laughter as people went through the archive and found pictures of their younger selves, friends, family or their ancestors.  Discoveries were made such as the photograph from 1880’s showing live bears on the lawn at the old rectory, a village brass band playing at a fete in 1884, photographs and the story of the family who came to live in Adderley after the First World War after visiting their relative a soldier convalescing at Raven House. So many treasures to capture and cherish. Â
Geoff brought thousands of pictures, maps and books as well as press releases and much more, and people attending brought their own memorabilia for us to borrow or add to the archive to share with everyone via the website. Â
A few pictures of the day and the trail signs. If you haven’t already, you may want to take the Heritage Trail starting at the village hall and walking via Station Road to the canal and church. Tell us what you think on the Heritage website www.adderleyheritage.co.uk and more pictures will be loaded onto the Adderley heritage website archive eventually as Saturday will be part of our history won’t it?Â

Adderley hits the radio show!

Well the heritage project in Adderley might be about our history, but we certainly know how to get ourselves in the modern day news.  Shropshire Star on Monday/Tuesday and a rather long slot on BBC Radio Shropshire today.  Click the link below to listen to the interview broadcast on Clare Ashford Show this morning featuring Geoff Butter telling Shropshire about our Heritage Trail and website.
It’s the BBC so you will need to register if you haven’t done so already.

The Heritage Trail Is Ready!
Despite cold and wet conditions the signs for the Adderley Heritage Trail were installed yesterday. This means people can walk the trail in full or in part from today. Tomorrow, Saturday 27th we will be doing the official launch at 11:00 with a chance to meet Geoff Butter and a chance to look at some of the history of Adderley.Â
Coming Tomorrow? We anticipate a number of visitors to the Village Hall so if it’s possible for you to walk please do and free up some parking spaces at the hall. You can view the exhibition any time between 11:00 and 14:00.

Adderley Heritage Trail Launch Event – nearly here!
As you know Adderley has been fortunate enough to receive a grant from Heritage Lottery Fund to save a valuable collection of archive material capturing the history of Adderley back as far as 1066. This collection has been created by Geoff Butter who grew up in Adderley and loves the history of our village.
Next Saturday 27th April at 11.00 am there will be an official launch of the Adderley Heritage Trail and another chance to view even more of the materials and history of our lovely village. The event will be open to people to drop in until 2.00 pm so plenty of time for everyone. A light buffet will be provided. The event will be in the village hall, and everyone in the village has had an invitation as well as a large number of ex residents.
The response has been overwhelming with replies from people in and outside the village, and the hall is going to be packed with people helping us to celebrate the achievement of the Trail and the website which allows everyone to see the vast collection. You will also be able to hear what is still left to do.
A whole host of new material is being brought to the hall next Saturday by these visitors which will enable us to add it to this wonderful collection.
If you haven’t looked at the heritage website yet, you can find it here: www.adderleyheritage.co.uk
