We Are Counting Down to Carols round the Village

Picture of Victorian Christmas

Only three days to go! You should have had your leaflet and hopefully you will be listening and looking out for the village carollers Friday night. Have lots of change at the ready and be prepared to give generously to our annual gift to Hope House Children’s Hospice.

For those of you who will be giving of your voices we gather at the Village Hall at 6:30. From there we will go to St Peter’s Close followed by:

  • Station Road
  • Green Bank
  • Rectory Lane down the hill
  • Rectory Lane up the hill
  • Meadow Bank
  • The Houses on the front
  • Corbett Drive
  • Back to the Village Hall

We can’t stop at every house so we will try and pick a spot to suit as many people as possible. Volunteers to carry buckets and knock on doors should make yourselves known on the night.

So! Who Did Build The Best Snowman?

Clearly the talents of Adderley know no bounds – brilliant snowmen built this weekend. Well done everybody. As promised we have a gallery of the winners and runners up which will be pinned to the top of the website for the next few days.

The Biggest, at least height wise, was Harry’s 5’2” snowman

The Smallest, with the most details, was The Dutton’s gymnast

The most unusual was tied between The Smale’s and Jos Parsons’ (Sorry guys we couldn’t split them so share the honours)

Honourable mentions to Diana Rosie and Val Nash.

We hope everybody enjoyed themselves.

Who Is Good at Making a Snowman?

We have snow in Adderley! and the weather forecast is for more snow tomorrow! So make a snowman. Take a photograph then put it on the Adderley Village Facebook page by 7:00 pm Sunday Night, 10th December.

We need to recruit a Part-Time, self employed cleaner for the Village Hall

This would be for 6-8 hours a week which would be flexible and at times may require weekend work. Working under the direction of the Halls Maintenance Trustee.

The duties are to mop, dust and hoover all surfaces. Clean and maintain the internal and external toilets, clean ovens as required and generally keep the Hall and outside toilet in a clean and good order.

Anyone interested please contact Marius by Friday 15th December.

Christingle!

You know Christmas is on its way when the first Advent candle is lit.

This Sunday we will be holding a Christingle service at Adderley church. The service starts at 6pm and all families are welcome to join us. We would like to invite some children to do a bible reading at the service and also sing some special songs. If you feel you are able to attend, could you please comment on this post so we can give out the parts. Hope to see you there! Also a massive thank you to ‘The Friends of Adderley School’ for helping prepare the christingles!
