The Results Are In!

Speed Checker Banner

In July we installed the speed checker on Green Bank in response to more concerns from Residents about the speed of vehicles travelling towards the A529. we now have the analysis from the two weeks in which the checker was in place.

The speed results for Green Bank 7th July – 18th July 2017:

  • 373 vehicles recorded of which 10.86%, 40 vehicles, travelled at more than 30 mph.
  • Of these 40 vehicles only 8 were travelling in excess over 35 mph of which the worst was 51 mph Tuesday 18th July between 7 and 8 am.

What next? There is a meeting with Shropshire Council to discuss road safety on the A529 on the 29th/30th August which members of the Parish Council will attend. The A529 between Market Drayton and Audlem has been identified as one of the top 50 roads in the country with the highest risk of being killed or seriously injured. We will take the information from the speed checker on Green Bank and the A529 to the meeting with us.

Dog Poo Again!

Despite the best efforts of Keep Britain Tidy’s Dog Poo Fairy and as much publicity as we can muster the calling cards of “Man’s Best Friend” keep appearing on our kerbsides and verges.

What next? we’re going to start spraying! We have some environmentally friendly, brightly coloured paint and we’re going to highlight the indiscretions so that the odd one or two dog owners who still believe in dog poo fairies can spot the omission the next time around and take a minute to clear them away.

Remember it is an offence to let your dog foul public spaces.
