Trees for Captain Tom

We’ve had a post from Michelle Corner who would like Adderley to join in with remembering Captain Tom whose funeral is on Saturday 27th February.

Captain Sir Tom Moore:

It was such sad news we received a couple of weeks ago about the passing of a truly great inspirational man; Captain Sir Tom Moore.

I read in the news yesterday about his funeral which is planned for this coming Saturday.  Reading on, his daughters had commented that Captain Tom had wondered whether the events in the last year of his life would lead to the requirement for more Victoria sponge cakes for his funeral wake!  Sadly, that is not to be as we all know that restrictions and keeping each other safe is still part of our everyday life, and as much as many of us I am sure would love to be there to give him the send off he truly deserves, we are simply not allowed!

Therefore, I wondered if you would all like to contribute somehow to acknowledging the passing of Captain Sir Tom on Saturday 27th Feb?  I wondered whether we could simply hang out our Union Jacks, or bunting for the day.  Make a Victoria Sponge cake and dedicate it to Tom, or even (if allowed) we could plant a tree in the village, (maybe a Christmas tree) and dedicate this to him, giving him a salute every Christmas the village get around it to turn on the lights and sing carols together.

Just a thought!

So what do you think? Let us know by clicking the radio button below.

We think remembering Captain Tom is a great idea.

Important NHS Information – Dial 111 First

PATIENTS IN SHROPSHIRE, TELFORD AND WREKIN URGED TO CONTACT NHS 111 FIRST The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford are both dealing with high numbers of patients right now – anyone in need of urgent medical care in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin should contact NHS 111 first online or by phone.

Health advisors can help find the best place for treatment and give a time to come in if a face-to-face assessment is needed. The service, staffed by trained health advisers, will book the caller a time slot for the most appropriate service, such as our urgent treatment centres or minor injuries units, or, if needed, A&E (Emergency Department ) at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) or the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford.

By calling NHS 111 first, it will help the NHS manage the flow of patients when capacity in waiting rooms is much smaller than before, to maintain safe distancing and reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection. If the situation is serious or life-threatening please call 999 immediately. Likewise, if the condition is not serious, seek advice from a pharmacy or make an appointment with a GP.

Green Bin Collection In Adderley

Shropshire Council Logo

The following information has been received from Shropshire Council:

Dear Councillors,

I am writing to inform you of disruption today to the garden/food waste collection service for some properties in your division. Veolia’s Wem depot has had a significant number of Covid 19 cases and self-isolation which has meant that some garden waste collection rounds will not be completed today. I have listed the areas below and also attached a spreadsheet which lists all post codes affected, although that list is long and rather cumbersome.

This information will also be distributed via the Council’s website and social media channels.

THE COLLECTION SERVICES FOR RECYCLING AND GENERAL RUBBISH HAVE NOT BEEN AFFECTED.

Our advice to any residents affected is to bring their bin back in and present it again in their next scheduled collection day in two weeks time. I will keep you posted about any further developments as information becomes available.
