Need plants or supplies for your garden? Here’s the local solution.

Gardening is something we all focus on at this time of year, but its the time of year when we normally flock to our local garden centres to pick up those vital items that make our summer gardens all we want them to be.  With those garden centres closed, you may be wondering what to do.

Never fear, help is at hand from Westholme Nurseries in Woore.  They are running on a skeleton staff but are trying their best to fulfil delivery of orders if you telephone them.  Having spoken to them they have asked that you telephone with a card payment, NOT email orders. Telephone Number is:  01630 647289  The offer is basic but helpful:

  • vegetable plants,
  • compost, canes etc
  • bird feed,
  • weedkiller/plant food etc from the shop.
  • No Shrubs can be supplied but bedding plants should be available from the end of April.
  • Minimum fee for an order will be £20 so if you only need a small amount we suggest you team up with a neighbour for delivery to one address.

The phone lines are open from 9am – 3pm each day, and if the line is engaged please leave your number and they will call you.  From 3- 5pm they are busy sorting out the orders for delivery.  If you are on Facebook follow this link to their page where there is a list of all the vegetable plants that you can order.

Orders will be delivered to your door.

Where’s a Dog Poo Fairy When You Need It

Perhaps the Dog Poo Fairy is in lockdown? Who Knows? Or maybe their isn’t such a thing as a Dog Poo Fairy!

Truth is dog poo is reappearing on the pavements and pathways in Adderley, particularly along Green Bank although the canal tow path is getting its fair share. There are dog poo bins! There’s one at the end of Green Bank and there’s one on Hawks Moor near the bridge and there’s another one on the bridge at the other end of the tow path walk.

We can’t very well blame the users of the canal, because they’re not there so we have to look to ourselves. Is it fair that the vast majority of responsible dog owners clear up their mess and yet the odd one or two feel that it’s okay to leave the mess, on the path for somebody else to step in. Besides, it isn’t nice to look at, is it?

So can we ask that if it’s you could you please take a little bag with you, pick up the dog poo and put it in the bin provided. Thank you.

Helping Friends and Neighbours

Katie Foster (nee Gadd) has posted an appeal on Facebook and circulated leaflets round the village. She’s looking for help to support people affected by COVID19 by setting up an information exchange on WatsApp. Please read Katie’s message and help if you can.

“Hi all, I am starting up a WhatsApp group for supporters so if any requests for support come in, I can put it on there and people who are able to help can let us know.

I’ve had some lovely emails offering support and some people have been in touch to say they may need support in the future and I think this would be a good way to coordinate things.

If you would like to be added to the Supporters group for WhatsApp please could you text me with your name and I will add you on there.

My number is 07828047120. Thanks all 😀”
