The Competition is being sponsored by Green Clean

Residents in the Adderley Parish are invited to submit Photographs of people and places in the Village/Parish for inclusion in the Adderley Village 2016 Calendar. The photographs will be judged by all villagers and the top 13 will form the basis of the calendar.

The competition will be open to all ages but restricted to people who reside in the Adderley Parish. Each entrant will be permitted to submit a maximum of 2 photographs.

The objective is to capture village events/presentations, notable landmarks and local people throughout the four seasons.

The judging will take place in early November via an exhibition in the village hall and/or on line. All Parishioners will be encouraged to order their 13 favourite photographs which will then form the basis of our calendar.

Your photographs should be submitted electronically to Chris McDermott at chrismac5071@gmail.com

We are very grateful to Marius and Fiona Coulon of Green Cleen (Seighford Staffs)for their donation of £50 as prize money for the most popular photograph

Yes! It’s Here – and we don’t mean Christmas!

Superfast Broadband arrives in Adderley

Just in time for Christmas we have heard the news today that cabinet 7 has finally gone live. The cabinet serves 110 premises in the village which means that from Monday you can contact your ISP and ask to be upgraded to Superfast Broadband.

It’s important to remember that if you are an existing DSL broadband customer then an upgrade will not just happen: you have to request it. Not all ISPs will be able to supply the new service from day 1 but you need to ask the question.

How fast is superfast? Well that all depends on how far you are from the green box but up to 500 meters away you should get the very best service available. After that the highest speed will drop roughly every 500 meters but even people who are 2.5 kilometres away from the cabinet should get a service, which means people who haven’t had a service before.

So after eight years of coaxing, cajoling and complaining finally Adderley village joins the twenty first century. Let’s make the most of it.

Neighbourhood Watch

Adderley now has a community Neighbourhood Watch scheme. The hope is that as many people as possible will sign up to the scheme which is being coordinated by the Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator in Woore. Apart from getting the benefit of shared information and intelligence it is possible for member households to get a reduction in their Home Insurance with some insurance companies.
