The Big Questions

At some point in the next week every household in Adderley Parish will be receiving a letter from the Three Parishes Neighbourhood Plan. Please read and respond its contents are very important.

The letter will explain what we are trying to achieve with the Neighbourhood Plan and it will ask you to complete a questionnaire. We understand that it’s a long questionnaire, there are 56 questions,  but these questions cover what you want Adderley to become in the intervening years until 2036. Your views and the views of your family will inform the Neighbourhood Plan alongside evidence from the presentations that we have done plus all of the statistical evidence together with the  views of everybody from the Canals and Waterways Trust, Historic England and Shropshire Council to Land Agents. Your views are particularly important.

You will have until the end of October to complete the form and there is a pre paid envelope for you to return it to The Shropshire Rural Community Charity who are undertaking the analysis for us. Alternatively you can complete the form online and the web link to enable you to do this will be posted on the website in the next couple of days.

As an incentive you have the option of being included in a draw to win a £100 shopping voucher. there will be one voucher for each of the parishes so you’re in with a chance.

The Neighbourhood Plan, when it is adopted, carries the force of law in planning matters and so it is vital that as many people in the parish complete the questionnaire. Look out for the letter, it’s clearly marked and it should be dropping through letterboxes soon.

The survey is completely anonymous. Any personal details you provide for the draw will be separated out and any information you provide will be only kept for the duration of the survey and draw then it will be destroyed.

The Playground Is Open

Village Hal

Good News! The playground is finally open. There are, however some new rules for its use because of the strange times in which we live.

We would ask that you comply with the rules for the safety of yourselves and your children. Unfortunately if people cannot work within the rules the Parish Council will be forced to close the playground again.

The usual T’s and C’s apply still just as they have always done and there is an appeal to common sense so that only children under 11 use the equipment and that you respect the neighbours and keep the noise to an acceptable level.

The new rules are printed out on signs around the playground.

We have replaced the chains on the swings and released the rocker on the balance bar so all now is in good order.

Please no dogs in the playground and put your rubbish in the bin provided.

Many thanks and enjoy.

Something New In The Village

The Information Board has arrived.

It’s hard to remember a time before Coronavirus and it’s hard to think of a time when it will all be over. Adderley Village Hall once held events throughout the week, the bowling green hosted a number of matches each season and the Church hosted services, weddings, funerals and christenings. People came to the village all of the time.

With a view to looking forwards the Parish Council has commissioned a new information board pointing out the main points of interest and giving an overview of the village. To go with the board there are new finger posts which indicate the safe route to the church which minimises exposure to the A529.

The signs have been made out of recyclable material and it is intended that they will contribute to making the village a more welcoming place to visit.

Remembering VJ Day

We all remember the 75th Anniversary celebration and remembrance for VE day earlier this year. On 15th August it’s time to remember VJ Day. Japan’s surrender truly marked the end of the second World War and that period in history also saw the use of nuclear weapons for the first time.

While VJ Day doesn’t hold the same significance for us as it does for the Americans it marks a significant point in history and we are asked to take a moment to remember.
