For those of you who wander along the towpath from time to time you will have spotted some major works taking place at one of the locks. This has provided a unique opportunity to see what goes on under the surface of the canal.
The flight of locks at Adderley continues the ascent and descent from the Audlem flight taking traffic from the Cheshire Plain up to Market Drayton and beyond. Built by Thomas Telford the historical significance of the canal at Adderley is marked by the listing of its bridges over the canal.
Even if you’re not one of the regulars along the towpath it’s worth getting your wellies out of the cupboard and taking a stroll just to see before the repairs are complete and the canal is allowed to regain its working level.
