Neighbourhood Plan Only A Few Days Left

You have until January 9th to submit any responses to the latest version of the Neighbourhood Plan. This is your last chance to submit any proposals for changes before it goes off to Shropshire Council for full public consultation.

You can submit a response online by going to the Three Parishes Neighbourhood Plan website:

https://threeparishplan.org/

You can drop your response in at the Village Hall or put it into the postbox at Willow Lodge in Green Bank. Alternatively there will be a post box in the Book Shelter at the corner of Rectory Lane.

Two Hundred and Tons

A small, determined and perfectly formed group of volunteers, young and old, gathered at the village hall last night to do our first carols round the village since lockdown. It was a perfect night for carolling and we set off on our two hour sojourn round Adderley giving of our best at each place we stopped and finishing with a rousing “We wish you a merry Christmas”.

By the time we got back to the Village Hall where Ross and Ian had turned out to serve us sustenance and Geryl had produced mince pies and small stollen we were weary and a little hoarse but gratified by how we had been made welcome.

When we counted up we had received over £200 with a lot of change. As one of the younger people put it there was “Two hundred and tons!” A magnificent effort Adderley. Thank you everybody. In addition the younger people benefited from generously given chocolate which went down very nicely, thank you.

What happens next? Well there are still one or two donations to come in so we will wait until we have them all then we will publish the final total and put the money into the Community Account. We have already been in touch with Hope House to ask for the details of how to pay across the money. When we’ve done that we will let you know.

A final “Thank You” to the volunteers and the little people who came and made it a wonderful evening. Hopefully, next year we will be a larger crowd and we can make more noise. Don’t forget the Christmas Carol service at St Peter’s Church at 7:00 pm on Christmas Eve. Until then let everybody have the best Christmas possible. Merry Christmas.

A Little Festive Ooops!

Entrance to St Peter's Church

There is a little Ooops in the Church Magazine on the centre services page which gives the start time for the Christmas Eve Carol Service at St Peter’s Adderley as 6:00 pm. It’s actually at 7:00 pm.

Always a popular event in the church with a full house. Everybody is welcome for the 7 lessons and carols and there will be mince pies and mulled wine afterwards. We look forwards to seeing you there.

Letters To Santa

Sooo, I was walking across the green by the Village Hall when I saw something that hadn’t been there yesterday. It hadn’t been there the day before either. I went across to have a look.

“What’s this?” I said to Snowman.

Snowman didn’t say anything he just waved to somebody I couldn’t see and stared across the car park as if to say, “Nothing to do with me Governor”

I took a  closer look; on the front in bold letters it said, “Santa’s Post Box”. Underneath in smaller letters it said, “Last Delivery 25th December 12:00”.

Oh! I thought, that’s sounds important especially for any small people in the village. So I rushed home as quickly as I could and set about letting everybody know so that they will be able to bring their letters for Santa in time for the last date for deliveries to the North Pole.

Carol Singing Round The Village

Winter Fields

A quick festive reminder that carol singing round the village will take place next Tuesday 20th December. If you’re taking part then gather at the Village Hall by 6:30. Wrap up warmly and bring your singing voice. If you’re staying in then listen out for us and be ready to give us some Christmas cheer. A donation will be very welcome as all proceeds go to Hope House Children’s Hospice.

This annual event usually raises in excess of £200 for a very good cause so hopefully you will be able to spare some change to help the total along.

Afterwards everybody is welcome at the Village Hall and who knows you may feel you’ve earned a dram or two to take away the winter chill.

Changes To The A529

There were proposals to make changes to the A529 through Adderley Village in order to address the concerns about speeding traffic and safety particularly in the area of Adderley School. We have received an update from Shropshire Council.

Shropshire Highways have advised the Parish Council that:

• In line with the Shropshire Council initiative, the speed limit by Adderley School would be reducing to 20 mph and some street lighting would be installed in this area.

• There would be no further street lighting installed along the A529 through the village as the cost was prohibitive.

• As speed calming measures like speed bumps or chicanes required street lighting these were no longer being considered.

• In light of the above, no further consultation would be undertaken regarding these street calming measures.

As vehicles speeding through the village is still a concern to the Parish Council and residents, the Clerk will now be liaising with both Shropshire Highways and WSP to see if there were any traffic calming measures that could be introduce which did not require street lights.
