Its been fabulous to see and hear the children around the village doing the quiz over the last 10 days to find the eggs.  We hope you’ve enjoyed it.  The postbox is still on the village green on the fence near the Bowling Green if you have a completed sheet with the puzzle of the mystery word solved.  It will be taken down tomorrow (Sunday) and entries checked.    Our sincere apologies for the delay in putting the postbox up, it was an oversight on our part.

Don’t forget the Coffee Morning in the village hall next Friday 29th April, from 10.30 am.

Whether you are new to the village, newly retired, a new mum at home with baby, or a local because you have been here for some time, why not pop down for an hour or so? 

The idea,  is to just come together for a chat, a coffee or tea, and a nice piece of cake.  Find out a bit about what’s going on locally, meet a few new people perhaps and, if people are interested, explore what else you may like to see going on in the village as our community gradually re-opens.  If there is enough interest we would like to make this a regular event so please come and join us.  You will be very very welcome.   

If you can’t come for any reason but would be interested in future events, or prefer it to be at a different time or on a different day please let us know.    This is your community and we want it to be there for you.    If you click on the Event below you can tell us if you are coming…..  It does help to guarantee enough cake! 

This week the Village Hall hosted the parish councils Parish Meeting for 2022. Which saw presentations from members of the Parish Council updating parishioners on activities and projects the Parish Council have been involved with over the last twelve months.  

During the meeting a presentation was delivered by Cllr Iain Wilson who forms part of the Parish Council Speed Concerns sub committee. One of the responsibilities for this group is the management of the Speed Radar that is located within the Village at one of four authorised locations. The Parish Council purchased the Radar four years ago and has been used as a mechanism to slow traffic within the village and at the same time recording data for analysis that is submitted to Shropshire Highways. It has proved to have worked with good effect and also been used to support concerns regarding traffic speeds.

The presentation included some of the latest data recorded, Cllr Wilson explained what this data represented and also demonstrated how it is used by Shropshire Council for analysis. See attached data sheet. 

Cllr Wilson also updated the meeting on the latest information regarding the A529 dfT Road Safety Fund project including the consultation proposals for Speed Pads and Street lights within the village. 

In addition, there was an update on the temporary traffic lights situated at the crash site between Adderley and Audlem.  Since the meeting there has been a further update which has been sent from Shropshire Council.

“An options report was recently assessed by Senior Managers in respect of the crash site and a potential preferred option has been identified. Officers are due to meet during the week commencing 25th April to identify the resource requirements, the steps that need to be taken and a timeframe for completion.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to release any details of the proposed options at this stage and information release will be very much governed by the Legal advice provided. However, please rest assured that the team have Senior Management approval to proceed in bringing the matter to a conclusion and we will endeavour to do so as quickly as possible.

As soon as we are able to provide detailed information, we will be happy to do so but that will depend on any agreement reached with a number of parties.”

We’ve had a message from Peter Rabbit to say that he and his friends have spoken to lots of kind people around the village and they have agreed to put clues in their windows for the Easter Trail which starts this Thursday.  

All you have to do is pick up the checklist from the Book Shelter in the village where Peter will be waiting to say hello, or if you prefer, download a copy of it here, and off you go.  Remember there are letters on some of the clues and if you collect them all it will spell a word.  Post your completed form in the postbox on the Green and if you are right Peter has said he will get a small prize to you!   How good is that?  

Hello – its me – Peter Rabbit, but Shhhhhhh, don’t tell anyone I was here.  Its not Easter yet and I shouldn’t really be about!

Just wanted to let you know that me and my friends had such a good time last Easter in Adderley that we thought we’d come back for some fun with you this year.   We’re doing you an Easter Trail with all the kind people around the village.  It should be fun, and there might, just might, be the odd prize if Benjamin hasn’t eaten all the chocolate by then.  Honestly, he is such a chocaholic!

Anyway, keep your eyes open, for more news about how to take part in the Easter trail over the next few days.  Oh, and remember – you didn’t see me. Ok?
