It may not seem like a big deal if that balloon flies away, (unless you’re a toddler, then its the end of the world). It may seem like a lovely idea to release one in remembrance of someone, and an even better one to release lots of them to celebrate a special occasion….. BUT DON’T!!
They can kill or maim livestock and wildlife, by choking, trapping or strangling and swallowing one can lead to a slow and painful death. Vets bills to operate on a cow to remove such blockages are astronomical.
A number of balloons have just been found on a farm in Adderley, one of which had been partially eaten by livestock. We are asking you to do two things:
- Don’t buy these balloons or if you do, never release them outside.
- Keep your eyes open and if you see one when out walking pick it up and bin it safely.
