Village Defibrilator

Image of Adderley Village hall

The Village Defibrillator (based on the outside wall of the Village Hall facing the bowling club) was again used last week (successfully we are pleased to report).

But a few reminders to all.

If needed please call 999 and ask for “Ambulance”, give the call handler the Cabinet number (it is on the cabinet front), they will give you the code to open the cabinet.

Remove the Defib and deploy. Once switched on it will give you full instructions by sound as how to use it.

Once used and you are ready, please inform myself or any Parish Councillor (Contact details are on the Village Hall outdoors notice board) that you have deployed the defib and they will arrange to collect it and we will then replace the parts needed and put back in the cabinet ready for reuse.

This is a Village facility looked after the Parish Council and as such there is NO cost to the user and we ask people not to fear using it.

I have been asked if we can run another Defib/CPR course, and this is being organised at present and more info will be sent out when confirmed.

Any questions, people should contact Cllr Marius Coulon.

A Warning From Neighbourhood Watch

URGENT PLEASE BE WARY.

At 3:45 today a Adderley lady was followed and chased along the canal, between Bridge 69 and Drayton.

The male was in his 20’s

Very pastey/pale.

Black Woolly hat.

Dark outdoor type clothing – very dark green, or dark brown He was carrying a black ruck sack Jaw length curly brown hair poking out of hat.

And a dark snood covering his nose and mouth He turned back to follow Nikki twice and then when she looked back to see him following again he stood still watching her run away and got on his phone.

This is very concerning and women should be aware.

some other sightings on the canal and there was a post on Norton in Hales Facebook page describing a similar male who exposed himeself to a dog walker.

Both incidents have been reported to the Police.

Please tell people to be aware.

Defibrillator – Save A Life

Did you know that Adderley Village Hall is equipped with Life-Saving Defibrillator.

Adderley residents are protected by a life-saving device, thanks to the installation of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at village hall.

The AED is user friendly, boasting a vivid display that gives voice instructions to guide a person through the steps of responding to a cardiac arrest. It can be used on both adults and children, with instruction given on the selection of the appropriate pads. Here is a useful link for reference – How to use a AED.

The defibrillator has been provided and maintained by the parish council.

The defibrillator is ready for use and is situated on the side of Adderley Village Hall facing the car park –

Defibrillator Location

Two Hundred and Tons

A small, determined and perfectly formed group of volunteers, young and old, gathered at the village hall last night to do our first carols round the village since lockdown. It was a perfect night for carolling and we set off on our two hour sojourn round Adderley giving of our best at each place we stopped and finishing with a rousing “We wish you a merry Christmas”.

By the time we got back to the Village Hall where Ross and Ian had turned out to serve us sustenance and Geryl had produced mince pies and small stollen we were weary and a little hoarse but gratified by how we had been made welcome.

When we counted up we had received over £200 with a lot of change. As one of the younger people put it there was “Two hundred and tons!” A magnificent effort Adderley. Thank you everybody. In addition the younger people benefited from generously given chocolate which went down very nicely, thank you.

What happens next? Well there are still one or two donations to come in so we will wait until we have them all then we will publish the final total and put the money into the Community Account. We have already been in touch with Hope House to ask for the details of how to pay across the money. When we’ve done that we will let you know.

A final “Thank You” to the volunteers and the little people who came and made it a wonderful evening. Hopefully, next year we will be a larger crowd and we can make more noise. Don’t forget the Christmas Carol service at St Peter’s Church at 7:00 pm on Christmas Eve. Until then let everybody have the best Christmas possible. Merry Christmas.

A Little Festive Ooops!

Entrance to St Peter's Church

There is a little Ooops in the Church Magazine on the centre services page which gives the start time for the Christmas Eve Carol Service at St Peter’s Adderley as 6:00 pm. It’s actually at 7:00 pm.

Always a popular event in the church with a full house. Everybody is welcome for the 7 lessons and carols and there will be mince pies and mulled wine afterwards. We look forwards to seeing you there.

Letters To Santa

Sooo, I was walking across the green by the Village Hall when I saw something that hadn’t been there yesterday. It hadn’t been there the day before either. I went across to have a look.

“What’s this?” I said to Snowman.

Snowman didn’t say anything he just waved to somebody I couldn’t see and stared across the car park as if to say, “Nothing to do with me Governor”

I took a  closer look; on the front in bold letters it said, “Santa’s Post Box”. Underneath in smaller letters it said, “Last Delivery 25th December 12:00”.

Oh! I thought, that’s sounds important especially for any small people in the village. So I rushed home as quickly as I could and set about letting everybody know so that they will be able to bring their letters for Santa in time for the last date for deliveries to the North Pole.

Carol Singing Round The Village

Winter Fields

A quick festive reminder that carol singing round the village will take place next Tuesday 20th December. If you’re taking part then gather at the Village Hall by 6:30. Wrap up warmly and bring your singing voice. If you’re staying in then listen out for us and be ready to give us some Christmas cheer. A donation will be very welcome as all proceeds go to Hope House Children’s Hospice.

This annual event usually raises in excess of £200 for a very good cause so hopefully you will be able to spare some change to help the total along.

Afterwards everybody is welcome at the Village Hall and who knows you may feel you’ve earned a dram or two to take away the winter chill.
